This is not at all the shot I was going for. I woke up yesterday morning to 4 fresh inches of snow on the ground. The trees were covered in snow and the sun was out….it looked beautiful. I wanted to try a photo of Luke seen in the mirror sitting or lying in his chair, with the snow covered trees seen out the window behind him. By the time I got up and going and had my camera in hand, I looked out the window and it was white everywhere. I thought a snow squall had moved in, but actually it was fog! You could no longer see the trees clearly.
I grabbed the camera to do some test shots anyway, to work on the angle I wanted and to see if Luke would cooperate. Then I thought I would wait for the sun to come back out. I snapped off a few shots, and then realized the batteries in the camera were dead! I had to plug those in to recharge before I could download what I had for photos to see if there was anything I happened to like.
As it turns out, there was. I’m not happy with the clarity of the photo, and the lighting was going to be a challenge with it being brighter outside, but I love the composition here, with Luke’s nose seen in the foreground off to the side (other than the cord coming out of his nose….it’s always something). I decided to go with this, which is a good thing because the sun didn’t come back out, and the wind blew all the snow out of the trees! I wonder….is photography always this challenging? 🙂
Oh yes, I keep forgetting that this is called a “photo challenge”…..there is a reason for that!
