The theme for this week’s #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge is “Summer“. I’ve already been sharing a lot of swimming photos so far this summer, so I thought this time I’d try to make it a little more scenic.
I took Sheba swimming one town over to Mascoma Lake. I grew up not too far from the lake, so it’s always been special to me. Some of my best childhood Summer memories are from spending time at a friend’s house on the lake. The rail trail runs right along it on the further end and other side from where we lived; we’ve found this great swimming spot that just the locals really know about and that you can only walk (or boat) to. Sheba and I got over a 1/2 hour walk in plus 15 minutes of swimming for her. I’ve been taking it easier on her since her arthritis had been acting up, but I did increase our walk this time and I’m happy to report that she was doing great afterwards! She seems to have come through her bad spell, and we’re very happy about that. We only had to give her Rimadyl for a couple of days, which is great. The longer we can keep her off the meds the better.
Unfortunately the old abandoned building at this location now says “SOLD” on it, so I wonder if No Trespassing signs will go up next. We’ll see. I can’t take the other dogs swimming here anyway since they can both be reactive and we frequently run into off leash dogs on the rail trail (even though the town has a leash law).
The morning was overcast so I edited the photo a bit through Photoshop by adding some blue sky and trying to enhance the greens a bit. I have some other fun photos of Sheba splashing and shaking that I’ll also be sharing soon.
Enjoy your Summer Sunday!
