Thank you to Pooch Smooches and Peggy’s Pet Place for hosting this blog hop. You can also join in by posting about anything to do with pet cancer, or by reading the stories through the links at the end of this post.
The statistics for cancer in pets are sad….more pets die from cancer than from any other disease. Nearly 6 million new cat cancer diagnoses are made each year, and it is one of the leading causes of death in dogs. Morris Animal Foundation has launched a campaign to highlight the devastating effects of cancer and to raise funds for more research.
Part of their Unite to Fight Pet Cancer campaign is a virtual pet walk being held on Sunday June 22nd. All you do is pledge to walk your pet on that day. You can set up your own personal page to raise funds yourself, or donate to someone else’s fundraising efforts. Ask friends and family to walk with you, and take plenty of photos to share on social media! It is $20 to register to walk and fundraise yourself, and you will receive a free bandana and decal.
We have lost two dogs and three cats to cancer. I have set up a fundraising page to walk in their memory.
I would love for any local friends and family to walk with me and the dogs, and for friends and family elsewhere to walk on their own. If you are interested in donating to MAF through my fundraising page, it would be greatly appreciated (but certainly not expected). Please take a look at my page either way, and you can find more links through there if you would like to learn more about this campaign or Morris Animal Foundation and all they to do help animals.
