We are extremely saddened and heartbroken to share that our sweet kitty Samantha has left us for the Rainbow Bridge. She had fought on for a long time, but old age finally caught up with our senior girl. We’ve known for a while that she probably wouldn’t make it to her next birthday, but we still had hope. However, she stopped eating and then drinking, and we knew the time had gotten closer. It was our hope that she could pass peacefully at home, but in the end when she no longer seemed peaceful or comfortable, we took her to our vet to help her the rest of the way. It was quick and peaceful for her.
This one is tough. Not only was Sam such a gentle soul, but she is our last cat (though hopefully not forever), the last original member of our Wag ‘n Woof Pets “crew”, and the last of our “4 and 4” – the four dogs and four cats that filled our household all at the same time in late 2004, with the numbers dwindling over the years. However, with this final loss of that group….our house seems too quiet and empty. Her canine brother Luke has his work cut out for him as our sole indoor pet for a while.
I’ll write more about all that soon. For now, we have decided to take the rest of this week off from posting, in honor and memory of Sam and all of her fellow canine and feline crew members now at the Bridge.
Samantha, we picture you with your eyesight restored, once again able to completely see all the beauty around you and all your siblings who were waiting for you at the Bridge. We will love and miss you forever. ♥
