It’s difficult for me to remember a day when we fed supermarket or grain store food to our pets, and never even looked at the ingredients list. We’ve come a long way since then, and maintaining our pets at a healthy weight with nutritional food is one of the most important things to us. We have two dogs with two different health issues: Luke’s luxating patella, and Sheba’s recent removal of a cancerous tumor. One thing these two conditions have in common is that research I’ve turned up says that a low carbohydrate diet is important for both.
We’ve been feeding grain free food for a while, and we’re always interested in learning about new brands that fulfill these requirements. That’s why I’ve been happy to learn about WildCalling!® recently.
Wild Calling! is not only concerned with providing grain free nutrition that is rich in meat and protein, but their company philosophy is “family first”, and they believe in “pets before profits”. They don’t have a strategy, they have a story. It’s a story about a family owned company whose food is made in the USA. Their values and caring for their own pets led them to create their own food. They treat everyone as a friend and neighbor, and even had a friend who is also a neighbor design their beautiful artwork for their packaging.
Wild Calling! took their cue from the wild west and believes in being real, honest, and true. That’s how they communicate with everyone they come into contact with through their company. They figured dogs will chase after anything that runs, flies, or swims, just like in the wild, and that’s the idea they based their high protein recipes on.
What is the Art of Nutrition? They use high quality ingredients including hormone and antibiotic free meat, poultry, and fish. This high protein food supports healthy muscle growth and increased energy. Then they add fruits to the 100% grain free recipe, along with important Omega 3 & 6, and GlycoEdge. GlycoEdge is designed to provide dogs with consistent energy through a low glycemic diet, and is made from tapioca, sweet potatoes, and lentils. Each of those ingredients is added at a specific level to prevent insulin and glucose spikes.
I don’t know about you and your dogs, but we are outdoors lovers here, and we enjoy watching for wildlife and love the idea of a food based on that concept. The dogs will sit in this window for hours watching for deer to wander through the yard.
Wouldn’t they love to chase them? Of course, that’s not allowed….but our beagle Kobi once pulled away from my neighbor who was caring for him, and chased a bear! Luckily the bear got away and Kobi’s leash got stuck on something right in our woods so we were able to find him quickly. This crew will just have to dream about chasing wildlife, and satisfy their wild urges eating a diet rich in protein that is as healthy for them as possible.
