Luke has an interesting technique for drinking water. I kid you not, a lot of the time he sticks his whole nose in like this:
Obviously, this photo was taken in the pool, but he does the same thing in water dishes. There is no doubt when Luke is getting a drink, because he is so noisy! He literally blows bubbles at times, and often comes out dripping water all over the floor. I put some ice cubes in the water dish to try to get a photo in the house, but I couldn’t get a good one. He would be great at a Halloween party bobbing for apples, because he had no trouble bobbing for all the ice cubes.
It has gotten to the point that whenever he is drinking water, my husband says “swallow” to him, like it’s a regular command! It doesn’t work…..here’s a couple photos of the flood he leaves behind (not the best photos but hopefully you can get the idea):
Does anyone else’s dog or puppy drink water in this way? My hubby and I seem to remember that our golden retriever Moses was a sloppy drinker when he was a puppy, but I don’t remember him sticking his whole face in the bowl. We wonder if Luke will outgrow this or not. He obviously loves water, and he’ll be going for his first real swim this week….we can’t wait to see how he does!
On a couple of unrelated notes: I was asked to share my opinion with the website Cat and Toys for the Experts Roundup – the subject was “What is your favorite cat breed and how can one create the perfect habitat for a cat?” Click here if you are interested in reading the answers. I was very pleased to be asked to participate.
This coming Sunday June 22nd is the Morris Animal Foundation’s #UnitetoFight virtual cancer walk. My sister will be walking with me and the dogs to raise funds for cancer research. You can read my post about it here, or visit my fundraising page if you’d care to contribute (any amount appreciated). We are walking to honor the memory of our pets that we have lost to cancer.
