Sunflowers have long been some of my favorite flowers. They always look so bright, cheerful, and happy! I usually plant a few seeds each year, and the wild birds also do their part by dropping some off too. Every summer I have one pop up somewhere unexpected. This year it was along the walkway in our big barn flower garden.
That one bloomed long before the ones I planted myself, which didn’t finally blossom until the end of August! They were slow like everything else this year, most likely due to our cool summer. We’re enjoying them now anyway.
I like to include at least one animal photo in my flower posts, so I took Luke out to try to get some pictures of him with my sunflowers. I recently shared a photo on Instagram of him “taking time to smell the flowers”.
Of course, he wasn’t really smelling them….and here’s “the rest of the story…..”
He was sitting nicely next to the flowers, but I wanted him to “smell” them, so I told him to “touch” the flower. It looks like he’s smelling it, right? Here’s what really happened….
We are actually getting some warmer weather now, so I hope that means we’ll be enjoying these for a while longer. Our last photo is of some sunflowers I planted that are a paler yellow than most you see.
