One thing that is fun about having multiple dogs is seeing how different their personalities can be. Yesterday I wrote about the crew’s different reactions to thunderstorms, and today I’m sharing about their different ways of enjoying the outdoors while playing ball in their yard.
Our beagle Cricket is a sun lover through and through, and she’s also the boss of everyone including ruling the games of fetch. She does most of the running and chasing, and though Luke and Sheba both love to catch the ball, they leave the hard running to Cricket (she is always the one to return the ball to me). They also leave the sun worshiping to her, and when it’s warm and sunny out they definitely prefer to just hang out in the shade and wait for the ball to come to them.
Cricket enjoys the pool to cool off in, and the other two prefer to lie under their favorite bushes and wait for the ball to come to them.
We’ve been having a typical New England spring – lots of hot weather in May, and then a cool off in early June. It looks like the hotter weather is finally returning. Sheba and I are headed out today to scope out some new places for swimming. We had found a nice pond last year but as the summer went on more and more fisherman were showing up there, and they don’t appreciate a dog splashing around and scaring off the fish! We are far closer to another bigger pond now anyway, but we’re still not sure where we can access the water. I have two or three ideas, and hopefully we’ll find at least one place we can to start with, and have some photos to share tomorrow!
