We had such a nice weekend! The Dadz had an extra day off, so we got to spend a quiet family Sunday together. I got to spend some time just sitting on the couch with Luke and my coffee in the morning. Luke absolutely loves when I do that after he has his breakfast, and I enjoy a chance to ease into my day a bit more slowly than usual.
The Dadz and I made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast, then we both took Luke on a walk. That was a special treat for all of us. Luke loves having us both, and I love getting a break from holding the leash! Plus, when Dadz walks with us, we go further, and onto some trails that Luke and I don’t normally travel when it’s just the two of us.
The snow is starting to pack down some which makes for easier walking, especially for Luke. I wore my snowshoes which helped in some of the softer areas. It was a chilly morning, but the sun was in and out so it was comfortable.
After our walk, we spent the rest of the day mostly relaxing. I “puttered” around the house while the Dadz and Luke had a nice nap. I spent some time with Samantha and watching the birds doing their own puttering and enjoying the increasing areas of bare ground outside. By the way, dictionary.com defines “puttering” as “to busy or occupy oneself in a leisurely, casual, or ineffective manner”. I think that describes our day perfectly.
It really is true that “life’s simple pleasures are the best”.
