My dogs have me on a strict schedule. If the Momz wants to go out on a Saturday night – say to a local fair to enjoy some country music –
– that’s all well and good. But if I get in late, way past my normal bedtime, I shouldn’t expect to be able to sleep in the next morning. Even though the Dadz is already up, and they’ve had their breakfast, my normal wake up time is 6:30, and that’s when they come upstairs. Sometimes they bring a toy.
If you saw my post earlier this week about the new Blue Whale toy, you might have noticed as our friend Sue did, that there were no photos of Cricket with the toy on there. Sue asked if Cricket liked the toy and I replied that she hadn’t played with it yet, and usually doesn’t play with toys until the other dogs have destroyed them and left nothing but a carcass.
She chose this particular Sunday morning, after my late night out, to make a liar out of me. At right around 6:30 I was woken up by a beagle with a toy, and her brother hot on her heels wanting that same toy too. It’s hard to go back to sleep with a growling beagle next to you. And then when they both start to do cute things and you’re compelled to grab your phone to take photos….forget about going back to sleep.
And poor Mr. Blue Whale? Please don’t tell our friend Oz, who sent us this nice toy. Actually he only has a small hole in him, just enough to pull all the stuffing out, and we put some of it back in so he still lives.
If you saw Wednesday’s post, you saw Sheba innocently snuggling with Mr. Whale as well. Don’t let her fool you….she put the hole in Mr. Whale, I extracted the squeaker immediately, and it all went downhill from there. Cricket would be right in saying “well, she started it!”.
Oh, and now that I’m wide awake and drinking my coffee? Yup, you guessed it.
I went to bed early last night, and luckily that is the pretty normal routine (we usually watch TV or read for a while), so Cricket and the other dogs were fine with that.
