Our golden retriever visits a groomer every few months or so, but in between those visits I groom her myself, the best I can. One of the biggest challenges of this is trimming her paws. Sheba’s paws can get crazy with fur sticking out between her toes every which way. I love to trim them up and give her what I always call “pretty paws”. Not only do her paws look pretty, but it makes nail trimming much easier when that crazy fur is not in the way. Having a good pair of grooming scissors is essential to make this task easier.
Sheba doesn’t love to have this done, she puts up with it but it’s sometimes a bit of a struggle getting her to let me hold onto her paw. So the quicker it can go the better.
I have to admit, when I was given these Stainless Steel Dog Grooming Scissors to try, I was very surprised by how much easier they made this task! I expected them to work fine, since they were designed for use by dog show exhibitors, but I am amazed by just how well they work.
To start with, they are smaller than the previous scissors I used, and they fit far more comfortably in my hand. The rubber non-slip padded eye rings along with the ergonomically designed handle make them easy to hold onto.
However, what I was most impressed with was just how sharp the stainless steel blades are, making trimming quick and easy, without having to go over the same areas continually. The finely serrated edges make a huge difference in how they cut. But they also have rounded safety tips, so I don’t have to worry about hurting Sheba when trimming in between her paw pads, like I did with my old pointy scissors.
I don’t have dog breeds that need to be trimmed around their eyes or face, but I can see where these scissors would work excellent for that task as well. I also used them to trim Cricket’s paw pads. Being able to trim the excess fur there means a lot less dirt tracked into the house.
I am also impressed with the reasonable price of these scissors. When I started to do some grooming myself years ago I quickly found that products that are considered to be quality for grooming can be quite pricey. But these shears are on sale on amazon.com right now: Dog Grooming Scissors For The Dog & Cat Home Groomer (affiliate link – we may receive a small commission if you order through this link) for under $20! They also offer a 30-day hassle free money back guarantee (that I doubt you would need to use).
Best of all, micio micia is letting us give away 3 pairs of these shears to our lucky readers! These are not only made just for dog show exhibitors but are meant for home grooming of dogs and cats as well (I haven’t tried these with Samantha yet, but I plan to!).
