Except When You Want it To.
I had been on the fence about getting raincoats for the dogs. My hope in getting coats was that I would stop making excuses about going out in the rain to walk or play in the yard with them. I shopped around for a while but never could find exactly what I wanted. One of the features that was important to me was a tummy panel to keep the dogs’ bellies cleaner and drier. Cricket is especially low to the ground and needs this! This is the one feature that was the most difficult to find in a reasonably priced dog raincoat.
One day I ran across a post from Coats Made by De on Instagram. I had been following her for a while, but just hadn’t thought of her when it came to raincoats. When I got on her website I immediately found just what I was looking for. We talked by email and she was interested in some photos to use on her website and social media, so we came to an agreement that I would try to provide some.

Fun with Modeling
When we got our coats, Luke, Cricket, and I just went out and had some fun taking photos. I didn’t really expect Cricket to cooperate much, but when I downloaded the photos afterwards I found some fun ones! Both dogs hammed it up a bit and acted like true models striking different poses. We all enjoyed it and I wanted to share some of the more entertaining photos we got here.
The raincoats are all I wanted, with a soft waterproof material, tummy panel, and hoods. Ours are unlined, but you can get a lined coat as well. In retrospect I probably should have skipped the hoods because neither dog is too thrilled about having things on their heads, so they would keep shaking the hoods off! That’s OK, having the hood up around the neck still gives us a little extra coverage even if they won’t keep it on.
Finally, Some Rain!
The funny thing was that after I got the coats and took our photos, we didn’t get any rain for quite a while! We finally got to put them to the test playing in the yard last week, and they kept the dogs quite dry.
There is a hole along the back so we can attach their harnesses when we walk, and I also like how easily adjustable the strap around the waist is. Coats Made by De are completely custom made to your dogs’ exact measurements, so you know the fit will be good! You can also choose different features you might like.
De makes all different types of coats so check her website out if you are looking for something to keep your dogs warm and dry, and even cool. You can also find her on Instagram and other social media, and maybe you’ll see our crew on there! Go over to her website to check it out and make this page your first stop: Dog Raincoat with Tummy Panel and Hood. We want to be sure you see our very own Luke in his first modeling job! 😊
