In the past, I’ve also referred to Luke and Sheba as “Frick and Frack“. These two also often bring the names to mind. That got me thinking: who exactly were Frick and Frack, and is that reference really appropriate here?
It turns out the origin is from a partnership of Swiss ice skaters whose stage names were Frick and Frack. They became famous in their later years in a series of skating shows called the “Ice Follies”, which began in 1936 and ran for almost 50 years. They were together for so long and became so well known, that their names are now slang and refer to two people (or dogs!) who work well together or get along great.
They apparently were similar in looks as well; that part doesn’t fit so much here, though Luke and Cricket do have similar intent expressions in this photo!
Any guesses as to what has their rapt attention?
