Yaheetech has several dog playpens available, and when given the opportunity to review one, I got the tallest one they had. Luke is a good jumper, so I was concerned this would not even be tall enough to contain him. However, it’s small enough area-wise that I don’t think he could get the momentum to jump out. Still, there is plenty of room for even a medium-sized dog like him to move around.

We had to stop using wire crates because the clanking noise scared Luke, so of course when we first set this up, he refused to go in. However, I let it sit quietly for a few days, and then I was able to lure him in with treats. When I made noise removing the door, he was skittish to come out, but he did (I only had to remove it because it wasn’t in a level area so the door wouldn’t stay open – by the way, it is easily removable! – and you should set it up in a level area). Therefore, if you have a fearful dog like ours, just take it slowly! Unlike with a small crate, there’s little worry of it making much noise once it’s put together. In a smaller crate, Luke’s tail would always hit the side.
We received the 8-panel dog playpen 40” height to review.
Here are the key features:
- Lightweight, yet heavy duty attractive black metal.
- Easy to assemble – no tools needed!
- Easy to transport, doesn’t take up much room and is easily disassembled.
- The rods used to connect the panels stick into the ground to keep it securely in place.
- The dog playpen can be configured into different shapes, can be easily connected to another for an even larger area, or you can leave out some panels to make it smaller.
While we don’t have an everyday use for this with Luke right now, this could be great for future dogs or puppies that might join the family. It could be made small enough to use in the house easily. I also could have used it when we had our cat Sam, to let her be outside without having to leash her or keep a close eye on her!
We will find a use for it in the meantime, however……this is going to be great for our chicks and keets when they hatch! We can have it inside the coop configured with only 4 panels to start, and then make it bigger as needed! It will be great for getting them outside but separate from the older birds as they integrate into the flock. We can easily throw something like a tarp over the top when needed for shade or protection too.
